BCL Grow: Covenant of Grace — Romans 5:17
Romans 5:17 (Grace)
For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. — Romans 5:17
"The covenant of grace is important for the Christian life for several reasons. First, it tells us that we are not under a covenant of work and therefore do not relate to God on the basis of our own law-keeping. In the covenant of grace, God promises to accept us as righteous by the virtue of his Son, the second Adam." — Michael G. Brown and Zach Keele, Sacred Bond: Covenant Theology Explored, p. 69.
Steps to Take
1. Think: Consider the evil and turmoil we find in the world today because of Adam's transgression against his Creator.
2. Thank: Give thanks to God for your redemption and salvation by God's grace alone through faith alone in Christ (the second Adam) alone.
3. Reflect: Remember that all Christians are declared righteous in God's sight because God has imputed (counted) the perfect obedience of Christ to every believer and every believer's sin to Christ.
