BCL Grow: Omniscience — Job 11:7-9
Job 11:7-9 (God)
“Can you find out the deep things of God?
Can you find out the limit of the Almighty?
It is higher than heaven—what can you do?
Deeper than Sheol—what can you know?
Its measure is longer than the earth
and broader than the sea.” — Job 11:7-9
“Though God is distinct from the world and may not be identified with it, He is yet present in every part of His creation, …This does not mean, however, that He is equally present and present in the same sense in all His creatures. The nature of His indwelling is in harmony with that of His creatures. He does not dwell on earth as He does in heaven, in animals as He does in man, in the inorganic as He does in the organic creation, in the wicked as He does in the pious, nor in the Church as He does in Christ.” — Louis Berkhof, Systematic Theology, p. 61.
3 Steps to Take
Ponder: What does it mean that God is infinite, that he is not bound by any limits at all? How does his nearness to you, his presence, bring peace and comfort?
Remember: Because God is infinite, he is present everywhere in all his fullness with his entire being. He is never limited by time or space, nor is he limited in his being. His entire perfect nature is present everywhere; nothing can contain him. Yet, he is near to everyone.
Rejoice: Take joy that in Christ Jesus God has drawn near to us. He is God with us. Rejoice that God watches over us and knows our every need. Be glad that his infinite knowledge and power means he has overcome evil and sin in order to save a people for himself, and nothing can thwart his loving, compassionate, and merciful purposes.
