Psalm 147:5 (God)

Bible Passage

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.— Psalm 147:5

“O to see God’s power and glory in every work of his hand, and especially in every word of his mouth! And to be so affected with what he is, and has done, and will do, as in every thing, to give thanks.” — John Brown, The Psalms of David, in Metre, p. 327.

3 Steps to Take

1. Ponder: What does it mean that God is abundant in power; how does this truth about God’s nature bring comfort and peace to you?

2. Remember: The absolute power of God means nothing can thwart his will. What he wills he accomplishes in spite of human sin and opposition. By the greatness of his power he understands everything because he created everything. And he has created us; through Christ Jesus he has demonstrated his powerful love and mercy to us. We can be assured there is nothing that can separate those who are in Christ Jesus from him.

3. Rejoice: Be gratefully joyful that our God is all powerful—able to save even the most hopeless, able to strengthen us with his word and the power of his Spirit, and able to preserve us in Christ Jesus until we pass from this life to our eternal heavenly home.
