BCL Grow: Image of God — Genesis 1:27
Genesis 1:27 (God)
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. — Genesis 1:27
Q. 17. How did God create man?
A. After God had made all other creatures, he created man male and female; formed the body of the man of the dust of the ground, and the woman of the rib of the man, endued them with living, reasonable, and immortal souls; made them after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness; having the law of God written in their hearts, and power to fulfill it, and dominion over the creatures; yet subject to fall. 3 Steps to Take
Ponder: When you image something, you reflect that thing. When you image God, you reflect who he is. For example, God is righteous, holy, and good. What characteristics of God do you image?
Remember: Relationships are not something that we add on to who we are. Just as God is a triune God where all three persons express love (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), we are also made for relationships. What relationships are you part of today where you can reflect the love of God to others?
Rejoice: Just as God is a God of love, expressing love in the Trinity from eternity, he shares his love with his creatures. Your adoption into the family of God in Christ is an expression of God’s love for you. Rejoice that you have a forever family with the people of God and a glorious future with God in the new heavens and new earth.
