BCL Grow: God’s Workmanship — Ephesians 2:20
Ephesians 2:20 (Sanctification)
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. — Ephesians 2:20
“Few things are more important for the Christian than to have a conscious sense of God’s destiny. That destiny may not be one of spiritual fame. That is of secondary importance. What is important is that we have some sense of what we are for.” — Sinclair B. Ferguson, Man Overboard! The Story of Jonah, p. 5.
Steps to Take
1. Consider: One of the prevailing ideas in today’s culture is that we create our own meaning in life and that life is meaningless. We are the gods of our own destinies. What do you think Scripture says about this idea?
2. Know: Scripture tells us that God has created humans with meaning and that a Christian is a “new creation” whom God has saved for a reason. God has given all Christians a spiritual gift and, along with their natural abilities, believers are to actively look for ways of blessing fellow believers and unbelievers while glorifying their heavenly Father.
3. Discover: If you have not discovered the spiritual gifts God has blessed you with or the natural abilities you have for serving those around you, begin to serve in your local church. Look also to the things you are naturally good at or enjoy doing. Fellow Christians will help you discern what your spiritual gifts are and how you can be serving the people of God.
