BCL Grow: No More Suffering — Romans 8:18
Romans 8:18 (Redemption)
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. — Romans 8:18
“One second of glory will outweigh a lifetime of suffering. What are years of toil, sickness, battling with poverty, sorrow in any or every form, when compared with the glory of Immanuel’s land!” — Arthur W. Pink, Comfort for Christians, p. 21.
Steps to Take
1. Reflect: Consider time. Now consider time beyond this life in our ultimate home living eternally and enjoying abundant life with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
2. Know: Compared to the glory of eternity living with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the sufferings of this present life are of short duration. The beauty and comfort of new incorruptible and imperishable bodies that Christians will enjoy when Christ returns may be hard to imagine now while we suffer. Yet, to consider our true heavenly home, even while this life may be filled with difficulties, helps us persevere and encourage one another.
3. Rejoice: God calls us to rejoice in our sufferings—how can that be? Even as Christ suffered, so we also suffer in this life, but the end of suffering is beyond comparison. We can rejoice knowing that passing through this life by faith in our Savior Jesus Christ is the pathway to eternal life and joy beyond measure.
