BCL Grow: Christ in the Psalms — Luke 24:44
Luke 24:44 (Christ)
Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” — Luke 24:44
“In a profound sense, individual Christians and the church as a body identify with the Psalms because Christ did. He lived in the Psalms.” — W. Robert Godfrey, Learning to Love the Psalms, p. 23.
Steps to Take
1. Reflect: What are some ways we can “live in the Psalms” like Christ Jesus did? What can they reveal to us about our Savior?
2. Know: Living in the Psalms means hearing them, meditating on them, singing them, and praying them. They are full of feelings, revealing to us the emotions of Christ Jesus in his full humanity. As Christ Jesus prayed the Psalms, so we also pray the Psalms, which God hears and answers.
3. Rejoice: Rejoice that we have a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who experienced all the human emotions, pain, and suffering that we also experience. The psalms are our prayers also—joyfully sing them to God as Christ did with emotion and thanksgiving.
