BCL Grow: One Flock, One Shepherd — John 10:16
John 10:16 (Church)
“And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.” — John 10:16
“The Lamb has raided the four corners of the world ‘from every tribe and language and people and nation’ to gather some from these groups together to form his one people purchased with his own blood (cf. Rev 13:7; 14:6).” — S. M. Baugh, The Majesty on High: Introduction to the Kingdom of God in the New Testament, p. 42.
Steps to Take
1. Reflect: God’s people come from the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). How wondrous it is that so many people from diverse cultures and speaking numerous languages are united together.
2. Remember: God promised Abraham that in his seed all the nations of the world would be blessed—and that seed is Christ Jesus (Gal. 3:16). God’s plan has always been to save his people from throughout the world and to unite them as one in Christ (Eph. 2:12-16).
3. Respond: Though it is tempting to think that we may be united by language, culture, or country, as Christians we are united in Christ Jesus. Our faith and wholehearted trust in him bring us together in unity with a bond by love. Therefore, let us love one another.
