BCL Grow: Talking to God — Luke 12:6-7
Luke 12:6-7 (Faith)
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” — Luke 12:6-7
“The only way to come to God is by taking off any spiritual mask. The real you has to meet the real God. He is a person. So, instead of being frozen by your self-preoccupation, talk with God about your worries. Tell him where you are weary. If you don’t begin with where you are, then where you are will sneak in the back door. Your mind will wander to where you are weary.” — Paul E. Miller, A Praying Life, Connecting with God in a Distracting World, p. 33.
Steps to Take
1. Ask: How often do you pray? Are there things you do to prepare for prayer? Do you only pray about certain things? How interested do you think God is about your life?
2. Consider: Prayer is a conversation. God speaks to us in his word, and we speak to God in prayer. The Holy Spirit enlightens our minds to understand Scripture and works in our hearts a desire to speak with our heavenly Father. Because we are his precious children, the things that weigh on our mind or concern us are things God wants us to bring before him.
3. Rejoice: We don’t have to be fake with God. Begin praying about your concerns openly to him, knowing that your heavenly Father cares for you. You are loved.
