BCL Grow: Our Eternal Bodies — Romans 6:5
Romans 6:5 (Redemption)
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.— Romans 6:5
“Trying to understand what our bodies will be like in heaven is much like expecting an acorn to understand its destiny of roots, bark, branches, and leaves….Our eternal bodies will be so grand, so glorious, that we can only catch a fleeting glimpse of the splendor to come.” — Joni Eareckson Tada., Heaven: Your Real Home…From a Higher Perspective, p. 54.
Steps to Take
1. Consider: Do you take time to think what heaven will be like? What does the world usually think heaven is like? What does the Bible say about heaven?
2. Remember: When Jesus returns again, he will bring all his people to himself and grant them their heavenly resurrected bodies fit for the new heaven and new earth. You won’t be a spirit floating in the clouds playing a harp. We will have bodies like Jesus’ resurrected body that will be without sin, pain, and illness and can run, dance, swim, climb, and explore the new creation.
3. Rejoice: There is much pain and physical suffering in this world. Our bodies break down over time, and, as that occurs, we should look with joy to heaven where we will be with Christ and have bodies that are glorious and new, untarnished by sin and corruption, ready for the eternal adventures prepared for us.
