Gospel — Galatians 2:20

Bible Passage

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. — Galatians 2:20

“In every part of both Testaments Christ is to be found—dimly and indistinctly at the beginning, more clearly and plainly in the middle, fully and completely at the end—but really and substantially everywhere.” — J. C. Ryle, Holiness: Its Nature, Hindrances, Difficulties and Roots, p. 246.

3 Steps to Take

  • Ponder: Think about how Christ is the central figure of all of Scripture, that he has accomplished the salvation of God’s people, and that he has sent his Spirit to apply salvation to all who believe in him. Consider that we have the hope of eternal life only because he died and was resurrected.

  • Remember: Abraham looked forward to Christ (John 8:56). The Mosaic sacrifices pointed to Christ (Gal. 3:24). The prophets spoke of Christ (1 Pet. 1:10-12).

  • Rejoice: You can rejoice because the love of God and his promise of a savior finds its complete fulfillment in Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 1:20). Be joyful that Christ humbled himself by taking on human nature and willfully going to the cross to die on our behalf. Be glad to worship such a highly exalted Savior!
